The informatics group work with a number of external groups, these include:
SystemsX: We are working with the SystemsX group who develop software to support all the major universities in Switzerland. This collaboration involves the joint development of software to support high throughput experiments.
Labkey: Through a grant from the Canary Foundation we are working with LabKey to improve the interoperability of their CPAS proteomics analysis software.
Modeling Immunity for Biodefense: Data modeling contributions to the Modeling Immunity for Biodefense NIAID centers.
Cytoscape: The Informatics Core has made architectural and software contributions to the Cytoscape project.
Systems Approach to Immunity and Inflammation: A long-term, collaborative project studying the connection between innate immunity, inflammation and septic shock.
University of Washington Fisheries Group: We are advising the fisheries group on how to adapt tools, which were developed by members of the informatics core, to encourage their use in other areas of the biological sciences.
SeqExpress: Members of the informatics group are contributing to the freeware gene expression analysis suite "SeqExpress".
Funding
The informatics group is funded through a number of different sources. The main funding is obtained from the following sources:
Center for Systems Biology. The Center for Systems Biology was established in 2006 by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). The Center provides funding for the infrastructure team who are charged with providing strategies for the integration of data and analysis tools that are generated at the Institute.
Systems Approach to Immunity and Inflammation Contract. The Systems Approach to Immunity and Inflammation Contract from NIAID (HHSN272200700038C) is a contract to identify novel regulators of immune responses to priority pathogens. As part of this contract the informatics group is providing a standardized data management and publication system. This is a general purpose componentized system which provides functionality for collecting, annotating, analyzing and publishing experiment data.
Cytoscape Consortium. The Institute for Systems Biology contributes to the Informatics Group to assure resources for contributions to the Cytoscape project.
