John Boyle
Director of the Informatics Core
Dr. Boyle is presently working as a Senior Research Scientist at the ISB researching both computational algorithm development and the analysis of heterogeneous biological information. He brings to ISB over ten years experience on both the commercial and research sides of life science informatics. This includes seven years of senior management and executive experience in companies specializing in the development of software for the life science industries. He also has five years research experience in bioinformatics and clinical informatics, during which he was a PI on a number of grants and led a research team.
Dave Burdick
Software Engineer
Dave is a Software Engineer who joined the ISB in 2003. Previous projects he has worked on include microarray processing, informatics analysis and web development. Dave is now working on data processing pipelines and Java applications for life science data management.
Chris Cavnor
Information Systems Architect
Chris joined the ISB in May 2003. Prior to September of 2006, he worked as a lead software developer for the T1Dbase project, a Type I Diabetes-centric bioinformation portal (T1Dbase). He now serve as an Information Systems Architect for the Informatics Core group. His work focuses on the modeling of information resources and the incorporation of Semantic Web and traditional modeling and search technologies to enhance the integration and findability of biological data and information.
Jim Gellman
Senior Software Developer
Jim Gellman is a Senior Software Engineer in the group, with more than a decade of experience working in the software industry on a variety of platforms, at companies such as Netscape Communications, Microsoft and Yahoo.
Sarah Killcoyne
Software Engineer
Sarah joined the Institute for Systems Biology in 2005. Initially as part of the Hood lab working on the Type I diabetes project. Currently she works with the Cytoscape team and on Informatics core projects. Prior to the Institute for Systems Biology Sarah was part of the Proteomics facility at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Working under the direction of Srdjan Askovic Ph.D. she helped to develop LC-MS analysis software.
Hector Rovira
Senior Software Developer
Hector has over 8 years work experience as a professional Java software developer, lead designer and team lead. He is responsible for design and development of enterprise and web applications. Currently, he is working on integrating a Java Content Repository using LSIDs, GenePattern Pipelines, and a data navigation Web app
